Girl's Room in Paisley

Designer Windsor Smith decorated a Los Angeles family home in a glamorous, feminine style. The 10-year-old daughter's bedroom is "young Indian princess meets modern preteen." Walls are covered in Peter Dunham's Samarkand. With the vintage iron bed's duvet and bedskirt in the same paisley print, the effect is lavishly girly.

A Twist on Traditional

In this master bedroom, designer Kathryn M. Ireland decided to use pattern on pattern with fabrics from her own line. Featured in the March 2008 issue.

Hanging for decades in the this same spot, the chandelier in the master bedroom of a Northern Michigan lake cottage was freshened with paint. The four-poster bed's headboard is in Ralph Lauren's Coastal Stripe in Yellow & White. The homeowner's stools were painted bright white then reupholstered in Raoul Textiles' Chunari in Blue Willow. "It's not supposed to be tremendously sophisticated — just fun and easy and simple," designer Tom Stringer says.
